The former State pathologist Prof John Harbison has died.

The former State pathologist Prof John Harbison has died.
In a career that lasted more than three decades, he was involved in many high-profile cases including the Kerry babies case and the Sophie Toscan du Plantier case.
He retired in 2003 and was succeeded by Prof Marie Cassidy in January 2004.
Trinity College Dublin has paid tribute to Prof Harbison, who graduated from the college in 1960 and lectured in medical jurisprudence there.

Dr Harbison is survived by his wife Kathleen, his two children Isobel and Austin and grandchildren.
