Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was forced to “shush” one his own witnesses during a hearing on alleged irregularities in the 2020 presidential election on Wednesday. A video of the moment has already been viewed more than 7 million times.
The witnesses were presenting testimony to the Michigan House Oversight Committee. Former Vice President Joe Biden won the state and President Donald Trump’s campaign has sought to challenge the results.
One witness, Melissa Carone, was a contracted IT worker who was responsible for fixing malfunctioning vote counting machines at Michigan’s TCF Center. She clashed with Republican state Representative Steve Johnson.

Carone claimed that voting machines would jam and that poll workers were putting votes through the machines “thousands of times.”
“Counting votes, ballots nine or 10 times,” she said.
Rep. Johnson told Carone that she should be testifying under oath but she argued that she had signed an affidavit.
That affidavit had been submitted by the Trump legal team in a lawsuit in Michigan seeking to stop the certification of the election in Wayne County. The judge in that case had called Carone’s claims “simply not credible.”
Carone defended the affidavit and her claims before the Oversight Committee.
“I am a mother, I have two children, I have two degrees. I don’t know any woman in the world that would write an affidavit under oath just to write it. You can go to prison for this,” Carone said.
At one point, Carone was speaking over Johnson and Giuliani leaned toward her and appeared to tell her to “shush.” She went on to claim that poll workers had been brought to what she called a “Chicago warehouse” where she witnessed fraud.
“I know for a fact that there was illegal activity going on there,” she said, claiming there were “pictures” of boxes as they were being carried out of the warehouse.
Republican State Rep. Matt Hall asked her why more people won’t coming forward with allegations like hers, according to Fox News. Carone told him she had been harassed and received death threats, adding: “Democrats will try to ruin your life.”
Earlier, an unidentified witness argued for voter ID because, she said: “A lot of people think all Indians look alike, I think all Chinese look alike, so how would you tell?”
“If some child shows up you can be anybody and you can vote. And if somebody with my name, you can’t even tell my name, anyone can vote on my behalf. So ID should be the basic requirement,” she said.
Her comments elicited some laughs from those in attendance. There has been no evidence of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election.
