Jacob Zuma’s lawyer, advocate Dali Mpofu, has told the Constitutional Court that it did “nothing wrong” in deciding the State Capture Inquiry’s contempt case against the former president – but says the apex court should correct the “good faith” errors it made in its ruling.
After saying that he was speaking for himself and Zuma, Mpofu contended that if what had “brought us to this court was the idea that this court sat in some dark corner and conspired to take former president Zuma to prison willy-nilly come what may, then I can tell you one thing, at least speaking for myself, I would not be here”.
“I am here because I believe that if this court committed any error, that error was committed in good faith in the discharge of the court’s duty, and there is nothing wrong with that, we are all human,” he added.
