SHAH ALAM: The police have opened an enquiry paper into a businessman’s claim that he was not given a Covid-19 vaccine injection during his appointment.
The incident allegedly occurred at a vaccination centre at a small town in Selangor.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed said they received a report from the man two days ago.
“The man claimed that the vaccine was not injected into him during his appointment.
“The man also has a video clip of the alleged incident,” he said in a virtual press conference on Friday (July 9).
An enquiry paper is where all relevant facts are gathered before an investigation paper is opened.
“Rest assured that the investigation process is underway and we will conduct our probe in a thorough and transparent manner,” he said.
When contacted, business developer Simon Ng said he lodged a report on the matter on July 6.
“I asked for permission and recorded a video of the initial process,” he said and claimed that when he replayed the video, he saw that the syringe was empty.
Ng added that he went back to speak to the medical assistant whom he dealt with moments earlier.
He claimed that he replayed the video to the person concerned, who then agreed to administer another jab.
Ng said the police had taken his statement and he had already passed them the video of the incident.
The Selangor Health Department had earlier dismissed the claim that a complainant had been injected with an empty syringe.
Selangor Health director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman said this was “impossible”.
In a statement on Thursday (July 8) he said that vaccination centres always ensure that standard operating procedures set by the Health Ministry were adhered to.
“We wish to emphasise that various checks are in place as part of best practices determined by the Health Ministry and improvements are made from time to time,” he said in the statement which was posted on the department’s Facebook page.
