‘It’s very disappointing’

Jul 3, 2021

The NSW Blues have received another major injury blow after scans confirmed five-eighth Jarome Luai will be unavailable for Game Three on July 14.
It was confirmed today Luai suffered a medial ligament injury in his left knee following Penrith’s 13-12 win last night over Parramatta, which will leave the playmaker in a knee brace for at least one week.
“Scans today revealed Luai suffered a medial ligament injury in his left knee during the second half of the clash at BlueBet Stadium,” a club statement read.
“At this stage, the 24-year-old is expected to wear a knee brace for at least the next week.”

Shortly after the announcement, Blues assistant coach Greg Alexander revealed any hopes of Luai recovering in time for Game Three would be impossible.
The injury means the Blues will need two new halves after halfback Nathan Cleary was also ruled out earlier in the week due to a shoulder injury.
“He won’t play, Jarome is no chance of playing,” Alexander told Fox League.
“It’s very disappointing. We’ve lost Nathan and now Jarome, so we need a new half and five-eighth.”
