IPOH: The vaccination centre at the Indera Mulia Stadium was closed on Wednesday (June 16) because there were no appointments scheduled, says Datuk Saarani Mohamad (pic).
“We did not run out of vaccines.
“When someone receives his or her first dose, he or she will get their second dose 21 days later,” the Perak Mentri Besar said in a virtual press conference.
He said nobody was scheduled for a second vaccine dose as 21 days ago, it was Wesak Day, which was a public holiday.
According to a spokesman from the Mentri Besar’s office, the workers at the vaccination centre had been working for seven weeks straight and it was decided to give them an off day.
“Today is just an off day and the centre will be open again tomorrow (June 17),” he said, adding that the vaccination programme operates seven days a week, except for public holidays.
Saarani also said the state would expand its economic stimulus package by providing more aid for those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said the total budget has been increased from RM19.5mil to RM25.7mil, involving 44 initiatives.
“On June 2, I announced a stimulus package worth RM19.5mil to cope with the impact of the pandemic, following the implementation of the movement control order nationwide.
“Taking into account the views of various parties and public complaints, the state will expand the stimulus package to help more people,” he said.
He said these included a moratorium for entrepreneurs who had taken up micro-credit loans from Yayasan Bina Upaya and Yayasan Perak for June.
“This will benefit 743 entrepreneurs with total arrears of RM244,450.
“Moratorium will also be offered to all 769 people who have taken up loans under the Skim Rumah Insan Amanjaya (SRIA),” he said.
Other initiatives included subsidy vouchers to encourage cashless transactions by traders, businessmen and entrepreneurs operating during the lockdown and one-off aid for state Budget Hotel Association-registered members as well as hotels and resorts in Pangkor.
