Shiv Sena MLA from Chandivali, Dilip Lande, went viral on Saturday when a video of him forcing a corporator to sit on a waterlogged street and asking his supporters to dump garbage on him surfaced on social media.
The incident took place after areas like Sanjay Nagar and Sunder Baug in Kurla were flooded following heavy rainfall. In the video, Lande and his supporters can be seen forcing a contractor to sit on a waterlogged street and asking workers to dump garbage on him.
When asked as to why he resorted to such action, Lande said in the video, I had been receiving numerous complaints from the local people. Those responsible for cleaning the garbage did not do their work for which people of my area had to walk through waterlogged streets. Now, I am making the contractor responsible sit in the same water.
The Indian Express tried to reach Lande but his office said that he was away.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders have slammed Landes actions.
The BMC and Mumbai mayor have claimed that all drains have been cleaned across the city. Now that their lies are coming out in the open, they are harassing small contractors. Can he take such action against the mayor and commissioner? Vinod Mishra, a BJP corporator, asked.
Mumbai Mayor says 103% Garbage Removed by BMC & Shivsena MLA Dilip Lande assaulting Contractor for not removing Garbage. Actual Gundagardi is for Commision from Contractor. BMC meeans Nexus of Mafia Contractors & Gundagiri of Shivsena. Is this acceptable to Congress Rahul Gandhi?

Another BJP leader, Kirit Somaiya, while calling it gundagardi, tweeted: Mumbai Mayor says 103% garbage removed by BMC & Shivsena MLA Dilip Lande assaulting Contractor for not removing Garbage. Actual Gundagardi is for Commision from Contractor. BMC meeans Nexus of Mafia Contractors & Gundagiri of Shivsena. Is this acceptable to Congress Rahul Gandhi?
MLA Dilip Lande said he resorted to such action because the contractor did not do his job, causing trouble to the local people.
