- Amit Shah will be in Tamil Nadu after a gap of over a year
- Shah might meet personalities like Rajinikanth, and MK Alagiri
- MK Alagiris loyalist KP Ramalingam met Tamil Nadu BJP chief L Murugan
New Delhi: MK Alagiri’s loyalist KP Ramalingam met BJP leader CT Ravi and sought time to meet Home Minister Amit Shah in Chennai.
Speculations are rife that ahead of 2021 Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, MK Alagiri will form a political outfit and may join hands with the BJP.
As per the multiple reports, Alagiri is also expected to meet the Home Minister during the latter’s visit to the southern state today.
Will Alagiri meet Amit Shah?
There is an expectation that Shah might meet top star Rajinikanth, whose decision on his political entry is awaited ahead of the assembly elections in the state due around April-May next year, reported PTI.
Shah, who is visiting the state after a gap of over a year, will be addressing the office-bearers and core committee of the state unit besides some official engagements.
When asked about reports that Shah might meet personalities like Rajinikanth, BJP state general secretary KT Raghavan told PTI “I won’t say that he will not meet Rajinikanth.â€
The Tamil Nadu BJP chief L murugan had earlier said that he has not received any information about Alagiri joining the party added that if he wishes then the party will welcome him.
Will decide my political stand after discussion with supporters: Alagiri
However, Alagiri denied the reports of him joining the BJP and told ANI, “I’m happy he (Tamil Nadu BJP chief L Murugan) said so. But I haven’t decided anything yet. I’ll decide my political stand after discussion with supporters. There’s no political strategy meet on 21st, it is all rumours.â€
Alagiri was expelled from DMK in 2016 for alleged remarks against party leaders and ‘anti-party’ activities.
After the death of DMK patriarch Karunanidhi, Stalin became the party president.
Just a week after Kalaignar’s death in 2018, Alagiri openly challenged his brother saying that DMK workers were with him.
Karunanidhi had groomed Stalin as his political heir.
