Behind Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, the Washington Wizards have suddenly got hot at the right time.
Blowing out the Oklahoma City Thunder 129-109 for their seventh straight victory, the Wizards are suddenly one game clear of the Toronto Raptors in the tenth seed, which would hand them the final Play-In Tournament seed.
In what is becoming a nightly event, Westbrook tallied another monster triple-double, finishing with 37 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. It’s his tenth triple-double in his last eleven games, falling just one assist shy in the game he missed out.
Russell Westbrook has 10 triple-double in his last 11 games, averaging 23/14/13 on 46 FG%.

Overall, Westbrook is averaging 21.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and 10.9 assists per game, which leaves him on track to average a triple-double across an entire season for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
It’s been the type of all-ecompassing play we’ve come to expect from Westbrook, but as of right now, it’s contributing to a surging Washington team that is striving to become a problem in the Easten Conference playoff picture.
Im one of those players that if I need to defend at a high level, I can do that,” Westbrook told reporters after a recent win. “If I need to score at a high level, I can do that. Pass? I can do that. Rebound? I can do that. Want me to coach? S***, I can do that, too.”
With 13 games left in the regular season, Westbrook has closed to within six triple-doubles of the legendary Oscar Robertson for No. 1 all-time. At this rate, nobody would dare dout he won’t eclipse that mark before the end of the 2020-21 season.
Washington will have one night off before hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers as they look for their eighth straight win.
