MANILA, Philippines The active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, April 13, zoomed to 165,534 after the Department of Health (DOH) tallied 8,571 new cases.
DOHs COVID-19 bulletin also showed 137 new deaths due to the disease, bringing the death toll to 15,286. On the other hand, 400 more recovered patients push the total recovery count to 703,963.
There are now 884,783 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the health department started tallying coronavirus-infected patients.
Most of the patients with active infections or 96.9 percent have still exhibited mild symptoms only, while 1.8 percent were asymptomatic. At least 0.5 percent of the patients currently have severe symptoms while 0.4 percent are in critical condition.
Of the 27,900 tests conducted on Monday, DOH said that 18.3 percent tested positive. In terms of COVID-19 bed capacity in the National Capital Region which is considered as the epicenter of the latest surge, 85 percent of intensive care unit beds have been utilized while 70 percent of isolation beds are occupied.
