A man is in a serious condition following an alleged assault in Limerick city yesterday.
The man, who is in his 50s, sustained a number of stab wounds in the incident, which occurred at a house in the Ellen Street area.
Gardaí were called to reports of a disturbance at the house at around 5.10pm and arrested a man in his 20s who was armed with a knife.
He is being detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
The injured man was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.
