Mar 23, 2021

A garda was rushed to hospital after a dramatic chase in Co Longford.
The incident began on the Ballinalee Road at around 4pm on Monday as officers conducted a stop on a vehicle that was seen “driving erratically”.
As gardai approached the vehicle, the driver failed to remain at the scene and hit a garda member as they drove away.
Officers from Longford began a “managed containment operation” as the driver made their way towards the Ard Aoibhinn area, where it hit a Garda Patrol Vehicle.
The vehicle left the scene and drove to the Ardnacassa area where it then collided with a wall.

A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of Dangerous Driving which resulted in several road traffic collisions in Longford on Monday 22nd March 2021.
“This matter has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
