LIVE market updates: The Indian benchmark indices traded firm, but off the day’s top, in noon deals of Monday. Volatility index, India VIX, meanwhile cooled off 7 per cent.The S&P BSE Sensex, after rising as much as 900 points in early trade, pared gains and was trading 700 points higher at 49,810 levels and the Nifty50 index was hovering around 14,750 mark. M&M, ONGC and Titan were among the top Sensex gainers and rose in the range of 3-5 per cent.
The Nifty sectoral indices were painted green, with the Nifty IT index, up 1.6 per cent, leading the gainers.
In the broader markets, the S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were up 1 per cent and 1.3 per cent, respectively.
