Paris Hilton labels Britney Spears’ conservatorship ‘not fair’ as she slams way popstar is treated

Feb 27, 2021

Paris Hilton is standing up as a huge supporter of Britney Spears, labelling the conservatorship she is under as not fair. The 40-year-old star discussed Britney’s situation on her This Is Paris podcast, saying she “can’t imagine” what it would be like to be under that level of control.
“I haven’t spoken to her in a few months. I haven’t even watched the film yet, because I’ve been so busy. But I heard it’s just a really sad movie.”
Paris is talking about the explosive Framing Britney Spears documentary that explores the rise of Britney’s fame, her mental health struggles, being under her father’s conservatorship and the subsequent mobilisation of the #FreeBritney movement set in motion by her fans.

“It makes me really feel for her, because she’s such a sweet girl and has such a big heart and I just can’t imagine being controlled like that,” Paris said.
“You know, when you’re an adult and you’ve worked your whole life for building this empire and then just to be treated like a child, it’s just not fair.”
The socialite even admitted that the documentary has made her look back on how the media coverage was around her in the mid-2000s when she was partying with Britney and their other friends.
“I’ve been reading all of these articles coming out where they were just saying, like, Britney, Paris and just like, a group of us were just were treated so unfairly and just like, this really misogynistic view and just being very cruel and mean and making fun of us.
“It made me think a lot this week, reading all these new things that are coming out after the Britney film.”
While Paris admits to seeing Britney quite frequently, she says they don’t discuss her conservatorship.

“I saw her this summer. We’ve had dinners, I saw her in Malibu. I just love her so much,” she said.
“She is so sweet and so innocent and such a nice girl. We just talk about happy things. Music, fashion … fun things.
“I never like to bring up negative things and make people feel uncomfortable so I’ve never talked about it with her.”
Paris’ revelation comes shortly after Jamie Spears’ lawyer has claimed the pop star’s father “saved Britney’s life” and that people “have it so wrong” about him.
While it’s widely believed Jamie has controlled her life and fortune, his lawyer Vivian Thoreen has told ABC News the Times’ the documentary “has it all wrong”.
“I understand that every story needs a villain but people have it so wrong here,” Ms Thoreen said, adding Jamie was a “furiously loving, dedicated and loyal father who rescued his daughter from a life-threatening situation”.
“People were harming and they were exploiting her,” she said.
