The Catalan giants were thrashed 4-1 by PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Nou Camp and Pique was livid with the side’s performance

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique was overheard delivering a furious rant to his teammates as his side fell to a 4-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Barca’s Champions League hopes appear to be all but over after a Kylian Mbappe hat-trick inspired the visitors to a crushing first leg victory in their last-16 tie.
It was yet another disappointing showing from the Catalan giants, who look set to go another season without tasting success in Europe.
And centre-back Pique made his feelings on the team’s performance very clear as early as the 39th minute, with the scores still level at 1-1.

After falling behind to a Lionel Messi penalty PSG equalised through Mbappe, and began to completely dominate the game thereafter.
As they won a corner Pique was seen turning to his teammates and shouting: “Can we just have one f****** long spell of possession? F***.”
Antoine Griezmann then attempts to diffuse the situation by replying: “Calm down, stop shouting, f****** hell.”
But Pique would not be silenced, and hit back: “No, we are suffering and it’s been like this for five minutes. We’re just running around like headless chickens,” before angrily spitting his gum out.

Despite his best efforts the words to his teammates did not appear to have any effect, however, as Barcelona were comprehensively beaten by the better team.
After the game Barca manager Ronald Koeman admitted his side had a number of issues which needed addressing.
“Surely the result reflects how superior they have been,” he said. “In the second half we had problems defensively.

“They proved physically to be very superior to us. We have to admit that they have been superior. They have shown that they have a more complete team than us.
“We have to accept it, improve things. We know that this can happen because we play against a great team, physical team, with experience and quality.”
Barcelona will now need to score at least four goals in Paris to stand any chance of progressing when they play the second leg on March 10.
