Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has set the benchmark on how to manage a player with his handling of Paul Pogba this season.
talkPORT has been told the Norwegian has also taken a leaf out of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopps book, with the boss praised for taking Manchester United back to the top of the Premier League.
United were good value for the win at Turf Moor – but it was far from easy
The Red Devils sealed a hard-fought 1-0 win over Burnley on Tuesday night to go three points clear of Liverpool at the summit.
There was a rare off-day for Bruno Fernandes against the dogged Clarets, who stifled Uniteds creativity.
But Pogba stepped up in the Portugueses place to be talisman for the night, running the show in the second-half and getting the goal that lifted United above Liverpool and to the top of the table for the first time in 1221 days.
Solskjaer has endured his fair share of criticism this season, with talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan a strong critic of the Norwegian, whom he believes does not have the experience or skill as a coach to be in charge of the biggest football club in the world.
But Jamie Jackson, Manchester football writer for The Guardian, believes the United boss is starting to prove his doubters wrong.
Despite his many doubters and critics, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned it around at Manchester United – could they now be genuine title contenders?
Paul Pogba ran the show in the second-half for Manchester United against Burnley
And he also claims other managers should take note of the way hes handled Pogba this season amid the continued speculation over the midfielder’s future, as well as public comments made by his agent, Mino Raiola.
Solskjaer has the club definitely in the right direction now,” began the journalist on the talkSPORT Breakfast, “and the fans believe, the fans are interested, excited and happy.
Its been a long time since they felt like that, basically since Ferguson left in 2013.
The guy is a shrewd operator and I think more and more people are starting to recognise that.
He knows how to win titles, he did it in Norway and he obviously did it as a player, so he has to be taken seriously!
Simon Jordan’s most explosive anti-Solskjaer rant yet – He’s not good enough and will win Manchester United absolutely nothing!
It was a good team performance; Fernandes wasnt at his absolute best but Pogba stepped up and he was the difference, especially in the second-half.
Solskjaers man-management of Pogba after the Raiola outburst has been an absolute exhibition in how to manage a player for the benefit of the team.
He didn’t get in any slanging match with Raiola, Solskjaer is above that; he just thought about what was best for this team.
Solskjaer is doing what Guardiola does, what Klopp does, ensuring theres competition for places, because that brings the best out of players.
