Latest figures from the Health Service Executive show there are currently 1,293 people with Covid-19 in hospitals across the country.
Of that number 121 are in intensive care units.
The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) yesterday reported an additional nine deaths from Covid-19 along with a further 4,842 new cases of the virus.
The Department of Health said that the backlog of confirmed cases has been cleared as of last Thursday, but said that it can take between 24 to 48 hours to process and validate laboratory results.
